We will let you in on some of our ‘local secrets’
We don’t want to shout too loudly, but those who live and work here love it. Here’s why.
Get your time back, to focus on family, sport, hobbies.
Enjoy the little things. It's all about lifestyle here.
The Dannevirke lifestyle gives residents the time to enjoy those things that can often get missed in the busy commute of bigger cities: – hobbies & interests, time with family etc.
And, down here, buying a house is still very much a possibility.
Into hunting or hiking?
Head out into the Ruahine Ranges or just down the road enter the Tararua Forest
Looking for good schools?
We are super proud of our schools. There are 7 Primary schools in Dannevirke and surrounding areas including a Te Kura. Our High School has been serving the community for 114 years or you will find regular bus services to boarding schools in Hawkes Bay and Manawatu. Amongst the Metalform team, you will find many ‘local school leavers’.
Do you enjoy weekends away!
And if you enjoy weekends away you will not find a better place to travel from. With the Hawkes Bay and Martinborough districts on our doorstep, and Wellington just there as well, the options are diverse and exciting.
Love cycling?
It’s pretty flat around here and there are plenty of cycle trails to enjoy in the surrounding areas.
Got kids coming up to uni age?
Just over the hill is Massey University and UCOL in Palmerston North or head 2 and half hours down to Wellington where you will find Victoria University as well as Massey and Otago University Wellington campuses.
Enjoy a tipple or two?
We’re smack bang in the middle of two of New Zealand’s finest wine making regions, Martinborough and the Hawkes Bay with plenty of winery’s, and wine trails, to explore, not to mention the odd craft beer brewery.
Are you looking for a lower cost of living?
Enjoy the lower cost of living that allows you to get ahead, buy a house, and still enjoy the odd weekend away.
In Dannevirke, there are still homes selling for under $400,000. Or for something more akin to a first home $600,000 will get you a lovely home to start. Check out OneRoof here
Perhaps building a house is a dream you have long held on to but the cost of land is too prohibitive in the big cities. In Dannevirke you can find sections under $200,000 to start that building project. Or perhaps you are wanting a bit of land around you then a lifestyle property is most definitely a possibility.
And, to top it all off your commute to work will be stress-free and short.
P.S. We surveyed our staff and reckon the average commute time is 6 minutes and 43 seconds*
*Not scientifically calculated ie. We really took a guess.
