Tow and Fert Product Specialist (NZ)

We are looking for a motivated, hands-on individual who has a knack for operating and demonstrating farm machinery and a genuine passion for supporting New Zealand’s agricultural sector. In this role, you will deliver more profitable and sustainable fertiliser solutions for farmers by showcasing our Tow and Fert equipment, presenting ROI-driven proposals, and backing it all with technical expertise.
You’ll be on the road around 75% of your time—meeting farmers, demonstrating equipment, presenting at field days —while also collaborating with our team at head office in Dannevirke. This role requires a unique blend of mechanical know-how, agronomic understanding, and sales acumen.
Key Responsibilities
- Showcase & Demonstrate Equipment: Confidently operate Tow and Fert machinery on-farm to highlight its capabilities and ROI to prospective clients.
- Present ROI and Fertiliser Solutions: Translate your affinity for soil science and fertiliser programmes into clear, compelling proposals for farmers looking to improve profitability.
- Manage Customer Relationships: Use our online mobile CRM to track pipelines, log activity, and ensure seamless follow-up.
- Attend Field Days & Events: Represent Metalform at field days nationwide, networking with farmers, collecting leads, and turning them into satisfied clients.
- Provide Technical Support: Troubleshoot mechanical or operational queries, coordinate with our service team, and ensure new and existing clients have a positive experience.
What You’ll Bring
- Agricultural Background: Practical on-farm experience (dairy, sheep, beef, or cropping) is essential.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable with towing, hooking up trailers, conducting basic checks, and addressing minor mechanical or hydraulic issues.
- Fertiliser & Soil Science Knowledge: An understanding of farmer fertiliser programmes and soil science to guide them toward the Tow and Fert system.
- Sales & Relationship Building: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, plus the ability to translate technical and ROI concepts to a diverse range of farmers.
- Growth Mindset: Driven, proactive, and always seeking new opportunities—willing to travel regularly and broaden your horizons.
